Super Kids - Life-Skills Development Programme
About The Programme
Super Kids is a Life Skills development program developed by mental health professionals and educators.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been advocating for life skills development programmes since the 1990’s. Society has always had the perception that life skills entail tings such as teaching children how to do the dishes or how to look after their pets. Life skills is much more than this! The WHO defines life skills as “the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with demands and challenges of the everyday life.” Life skills is therefore exactly what the name suggests: life skills are the skills we as human beings need to effectively deal with all the challenges and hurdles life throws at us.
It is also important to take note of all the drastic changes which came about in all sectors of society. Therefore our children are required to learn on array of skills in order to cope with these changes and societal demands. Research has found that life skills holds great benefits for the individual and society.
These benefits includes coming up with new and unique ways in which to solve problems; effective time management; increased emotional intelligence; ability to recognise and accept difference among people and engage with others accordingly; and many more.
